As in any democracy, Israeli voters depend on the government, parliament and political parties to represent them and to act in their best interests. Unfortunately, because of the inherent flaws in Israel's electoral system, regime structure and oversight mechanisms, these institutions are often inefficient and unstable. Through several ongoing, long-term studies, the Israel Democracy Institute aims to implant accountability and transparency in all aspects of Israeli politics, and to raise public awareness and foster participation in the political process, which will ultimately lead to greater effectiveness and reduced corruption.
