Mr. Avi Fischer is Deputy Chairman of the IDB Group, Co-CEO of Clal Industries and Investments Ltd., Chairman of Clal Biotechnology Industries Ltd., Chairman of Fundtech Ltd., and Co-Chairman of the Infinity I-China Fund. He is also a partner at the law firm Fischer, Behar, Chen, Well, Orion & Co, one of Israel’s largest firms. Mr. Fischer is a member of the Board of Directors of many public and private companies including Clal Industries and Investments Ltd., Discount Investment Corporation Ltd., Machteshim-Agan Ltd. and others.
In addition to his involvement with the Israel Democracy Institute, Mr. Fischer is one of the founders and Co-Chairman of Matan – Investing in the Community, a leading Israeli non-profit and philanthropic organization that promotes a caring civil society by advising companies, individual donors and foundations on effective community-based charitable investments and their implementation. He is the president of the Public Committee of “Adopt a Battalion,” the leading project of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, which matches companies with IDF combat units, enhancing the wellbeing of combat soldiers.
Mr. Fischer earned his law degree from the Tel Aviv University, where he later served as a lecturer during the 1980's. He is a Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) in the IDF and is married with three children.
