Dr. Momi Dahan

Dr. Momi Dahan is a researcher at the Israel Democracy Institute and focuses on topics of public finance, macroeconomics, and income inequality. He heads the project on Inequality and Public Policy. Dr. Dahan teaches at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem at the School of Public Policy.

Dr. Dahan received a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration in 1987, an M.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. in 1989, and a Ph.D. in Economics in 1996, all from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Since 2003, Dr. Dahan has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Israel Economic Review, and since 2006, he has been a Research Fellow at the Center for Economic Studies (CES). He was also a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Economics in MIT.

Dr. Dahan was previously a consultant in the International Monetary Fund, in the Monetary Department; a consultant in the Inter-American Development Bank, OCE; a Senior Economist for the Research Department of the Bank of Israel; and the Senior Economic Advisor to the Director General of the Ministry of Finance. In 2003-2006, he headed the Provident Fund Investment Committee.

Dr. Dahan has published articles in top scientific journals such as The American Economic Review and Journal of Economic Growth as well as books. His latest book is The Balance of Power in the Budgeting Process, (with Avi Ben Bassat) the Israel Democracy Institute, January 2007 [Hebrew].

Since 2004, Dr. Dahan has also been a columnist for the IDF Public Radio's Economic Program.
