memorial

On 12 November 2009, a monument in honor of the 2974 victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks was inaugurated. The memorial, a thirty-foot bronze sculpture representing an American flag that gradually turns into a memorial flame, was designed by an Israeli artist, Eliezer Weishoff. The monument, located in Azarim Park (Jerusalem), rests on a base of granite taken from the grounds of the World Trade Center, and is the only memorial site outside New York on which the names of the killed are engraved.

Four Israeli citizens—Alona Avraham, Shay Levinhar, Danni Lewin, and Hagay Shefi—were among the 2974 victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
