We are pleased to bring to your attention the publication of the first issue of the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI) Terror and Democracy Newsletter. The newsletter, which will be issued once a month, surveys recent developments in Israeli law and practice that seek to mitigate or repress terrorist threats (the first issues discussed are the incarceration of 'unlawful combatants', house demolitions and the listing of terrorist groups). We would appreciate it if you would please circulate this message to the members of your distribution list and encourage them to register at the IDI website in order to directly receive future issues by email.
To join the "Terror and Democracy" community and receive the upcoming newsletters, please email us at: td_news@idi.org.il
It is our hope that the newsletter will shed light on some relatively unknown Israeli or Israel-related measures and policies and will foster discussion on the balance between security interests, on the one hand, and democratic principles and human rights, on the other hand. We at the IDI believe that a greater familiarity with Israel's experience in this regard may be of value to other societies as well; we also believe that engaging in international and comparative discourse on Israel's experience is valuable for Israeli society.
