The attacks of September 11th, 2001, and the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have brought the issue of terrorism to the heart of Western democratic discourse. The Israel Democracy Institute has been conducting extensive research exploring the conceptual, theoretical and legal aspects of the global war on terror from a democratic perspective. IDI strives to find the best course to effectively fight terrorism as a modern Western democracy committed to human rights and to other core democratic principles.
