The Secular-Orthodox Factor in Israeli Jewish Public Opinion on Peace and Security

Does the level of one's religiousness play a role in defining one's opinion towards the peace process and security issues?

Prof. Tamar Hermann of the Israel Decmocracy Institute (IDI) conducted a survey in order to assess the correlation between Israeli citizens' religious tendencies and their support of the Oslo Accords and other peace initiatives, as well as their general attitudes towards security related issues.

The data collected by Prof. Hermann was presented at a conference held recently at IDI, which dealt with Secularism in Society and Culture, as an example of the effects of secularism on Israeli culture and society.
