The conversion crisis continues to make headlines in Israel, as the Chief Rabbinate casts aspersions on the validity of thousands of conversions performed under the auspices of the Israel Defense Forces.

On Thursday October 21, IDI President Dr. Arye Carmon and Vice President of Research Prof. Yedidia Stern sent an urgent letter to Israeli President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appealing to them to affirm unequivocally the validity of conversions performed within the Israeli army and to make conversion a national priority. This letter was printed in an advertisement in the Israeli press (see below).
