IDI Responds to the Exclusion of Women 
The exclusion of women in Israel 

January saw an unprecedented focus on the role of women in Israeli society, as women stood up to segregation on buses, soldiers raised objections to women singing, and the story of an eight-year-old girl abused for her alleged immodesty provoked a public outcry. IDI scholars were quick to respond, speaking out on the issue and hosting a high-profile roundtable debate between secular and religious leaders.

On January 29, IDI and AVI CHAI presented the findings of the third Guttman-AVI CHAI report at a symposium in Jerusalem. The study, which received extraordinary press coverage, profiles the religiosity, beliefs, and religious observance of Jews in Israel.
