Political Awareness through Education: A Comparative View

Event Date(s):
12/9/2008

Summary

How was political awareness promoted through education in post-war Germany and for what purpose? Why did the Israeli education system discontinue its affiliations with the various political streams, and how did this lead to an anti-political consensus in the Israeli system?

German experts will explain the political education system in their country and its goals; Israeli experts will discuss the differences and the similarities that may be drawn between the Israeli and German education systems. Both panels will team up in an attempt to draw some logical conclusions and feasible recommendations.

The conference will be held in English, and will be open to the public.
