Established in 1993, IDI’s Caesarea Economic Policy Planning Forum is widely recognized as Israel’s most influential economic conference. This annual forum gathers together the Prime Minister, prominent businessmen, public servants, economists, leading academics, and other top representatives from the public and private sectors for intensive discussion of the key challenges facing the Israeli economy. Traditionally, the Minister of Finance chairs the Forum, and the Prime Minister delivers the closing remarks.
Each year, the Forum examines Israel’s macro-economic policy and focuses on three other key issues, which in the past have included environmental policy, inequality, the war on terror, globalization, education, transparency, and local government.
For nearly half a year prior to the conference, IDI convenes high-level, interdisciplinary working groups to research problem areas within Israel’s fiscal policy. These research teams develop recommendations that are presented for discussion and debate at the Caesarea Forum. This dialogue is conducted for the benefit of Israel’s policy makers, who within weeks of the Caesarea Forum begin the task of formulating economic policy for the coming year.
The Caesarea Forum is broadcast live with simultaneous English translation on this site.
